The Japan Society of Ultrasonics in Medicine invites candidates
to apply for the JSUM Fellowship for the year2005, as explained
in the enclosed Guidelines for the JSUM Fellowship. The Guidelines
are also available at the SUM home page.

The period of research or training in Japan will be form April 2005
through March 2006.
The Secretary of each affiliated society of AFSUMB is requested
to submit applications to ISUM no later than September 10, 2004.
Applications should be accompanied by (1) the Completed Application
Form (2) include photocopy of passport showing photograph and identification
information, (3) a written pledge from the candidate, (4) evidence
that this invitation has been made available to all members of the
affiliated society preferably a copy of the page containing the
announcement published in the official journal of each society or
a copy of the page on your society's web site, and (5) a Letter
of Provisional Acceptance by a Japanese supervisor stating that
the applicant will be accepted by the supervisor's institution if
a fellowship is offered. Japanese supervisors are identified on

From this year, it will not be necessary for applicants to enclose
" a letter of recommendation from the president of an affiliated
society to the president of JSUM" at the time of application. The
JSUM secretariat will refer to appropriate persons if they deem
recommendation necessary.
The number of candidates from each society is not limited.
Please note that applications arriving after the deadline cannot
be accepted.
We will mail the names of successful candidates to the secretary
of each society by the end of December 2004.
